Carvacrol is an organic, colorless or pale yellow viscous oily liquid. The chemical formula is C10H14O, easily soluble in alcohol and ether, almost insoluble in water. The property of being able to volatilize with water vapor is used in spices, food additives, feed additives, antioxidants, sanitation fungicides, insect repellents, preservatives, deodorants, and pharmaceutical intermediates. Mainly used for the preparation of vanilla essence.
