The main component of AKD is alkyl ketene dimer emulsion. It has long carbon chain hydrophobic functional group, which is adsorbed and combined with hydroxyl group of pulp fiber to achieve good sizing effect. Suitable for use under neutral or slightly alkaline conditions, fast ageing, giving paper high water resistance.
