Arbutin is an ideal whitening agent of whitening cosmetics. It is also called the glucoside. There are two kinds of optical isomers, namely α and ß. The ß isomer has biological activity. At room temperature, it is white with pale yellow powder. Arbutin is named for that it was founded in ericaceae plants of the genus bearberry leaves.
