 It's also known as dipropylene glyco, l, 4-oxaheptane-2,6-diol (4-oxaheptane-2,6-diol), 1,1, -oxo-di-2-propanol (1,1' -Oxydi-2-propanol), 2-hydroxypropyl ether, 2,2, -dihydroxydipropyl ether (2,2' -Dihydroxydipropyl ethe, or DPG for short. Dipropylene glycol is an odorless, colorless, sweet, water-soluble and hygroscopic liquid at room temperature. Soluble in water, ether, has a spicy sweet, non-corrosive. Minimal skin irritation and low toxicity. Flammable in case of open fire or high heat. Form explosive mixture with air. It is suitable for the use of fragrance and cosmetics which are more sensitive to smell.  

Application Field
 

1,1'-Oxydi-2-propanol is commonly used as a plasticizer, an intermediate in industrial chemical reactions.
Used in the manufacture of polyester resins. Used as a solvent for cellulose acetate, cellulose nitrate, shellac varnish, castor oil, a component of fiber lubricants, and in the preparation of plasticizers, fumigants, synthetic detergents, etc. In addition, dipropylene glycol can be used alone or in combination with diethylene glycol to extract aromatic hydrocarbons from hydrocarbons.
