Sodium deoxycholic acid is a sodium salt of deoxycholic acid, white crystalline powder at room temperature, similar to bile odor, has a strong bitter taste. Sodium deoxycholate is an ionic detergent that can be used to lysate cells and dissolve proteins that are insoluble in water. It can also be used in biliolytic experiments, the principle is that bile or bile salts have surface activity, can quickly activate the autolysase, accelerate the self-dissolution of bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae.
